Biography

Nyboe is a Danish hip hop vinyl DJ and curator – specialising in west coast and south hiphop, boom bap, instrumental sets, Danish rap and crosses into especially trip hop, breaks, library music and jazz. He is a winner of Wax Poetics x Polaroid’s and Reloop’s international mixtape contests and is known for his extensive vinyl collection. Nyboe has created exclusive mixtapes and live streams for radio shows, labels and brands around the world like WEFUNK in Canada, 1200Twelves w/ DJ D Worldwide in Australia, Fine Cuts Radio in France, Alleycat Anthem in Sweden, 45 Day in the UK and Pasteelo, Soundtrack Café, Pana Radio, Funky Tuesday and more in Denmark. He’s also known for doing warm up gigs for US rappers visiting Denmark, recently names like The Alchemist, Boldy James, CRIMEAPPLE, Guilty Simpson, El Da Sensei, Masta Ace and more. In the last couple of years Nyboe has also shifted towards not just playing vinyl-only gigs, but also playing more at local wine bars, cafés and bars. Mostly because it really fits his style – especially often when playing more jazz-funk, library music, soundtracks, breaks, rare grooves etc – but also because there are no longer really any hip hop jams and very few hip hop concerts for him to play at anymore. Nyboe also has his own radio show – WaxWorks on Black Rhino Radio.
