Botswana’s 267 HipHop Awards ReturnWith Southern African Ambitions

Botswana’s 267 HipHop Awards are returning for their second edition, with organisers announcing plans to expand recognition beyond the country’s borders and across Southern Africa.

According to a report published by the Botswana Press Agency on November 4, 2026, the upcoming 2026/2027 edition will feature 22 award categories, including a new Best Regional HipHop Award.

The regional category is intended to include HipHop talent from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini and South Africa alongside Botswana.

More Than Artist Recognition

The proposed regional expansion could provide another platform for recognising HipHop activity across Southern Africa.

While Botswana remains the home of the awards, the new category is designed to extend attention to neighbouring countries with their own music communities and cultural identities.

The initiative reflects an ambition to recognise regional talent beyond national boundaries. The participation of individual artists and DJs in the new category has not yet been independently confirmed.

Nominations Underway

According to the Botswana Press Agency, the nomination submission period is scheduled for November 1–6, 2026.
