The UK now has a dedicated weekly ranking for current British R&B, and kwn opens the new chart at No. 1. “Good Girl” leads the first Official R&B UK Chart, with FLO’s “Leak It” at No. 2. kwn takes No. 3 with “Risk It All,” followed by Jorja Smith featuring Wizkid with “Alive” at No. 4 and FLO’s “Cry Ugly” at No. 5.

This puts kwn at the center of a launch built specifically around current British R&B. More important for the wider scene, the ranking gives UK R&B its own recurring measure for new music rather than placing every release inside a broader HipHop and R&B category.

The Official Charts Company developed the chart with Everything R&B, the platform founded by DJ Ace and Billi John. The Top 20 uses combined UK sales and streaming data. Eligible songs must be by British artists and must have been released within the previous 12 months.

That structure gives both emerging artists and established names a weekly reference point for current activity. It also keeps the focus on recent releases instead of allowing older catalogue titles to dominate the ranking.

The opening chart shows how varied the present UK R&B field is. Alongside kwn, FLO and Jorja Smith, the Top 20 includes Cleo Sol, Odeal, Ella Mai, Olivia Dean, Jordan Adetunji, Nia Smith and Children of Zeus. The list therefore reaches across several directions within contemporary British R&B rather than presenting the scene as one narrow sound.

DJs and radio are part of the launch as well. DJ Ace revealed the first No. 1 on KISS XTRA, linking the chart’s data-based ranking with the people who introduce, select and support R&B records in everyday programming.

For DJs, radio hosts and music curators, the chart can become another discovery signal when following new British releases. It does not replace personal selection or scene knowledge. Instead, it adds a public weekly snapshot of which current tracks are generating measurable activity in the UK.

For artists and labels, the value is different. A specialist chart cannot guarantee long-term success, but it creates another visible reference point for momentum inside R&B. For fans, it offers a simple route into new and developing British music.

“Good Girl” gives kwn the first No. 1 in the chart’s history. The larger test begins now. If the ranking becomes a regular reference for listeners, DJs, radio teams and the industry, it could strengthen discovery around British R&B well beyond its first week.
