The Outlawz, originally known as Outlaw Immortalz, is a pioneering rap group formed in 1995 by Tupac Shakur (also known as 2Pac) after his release from prison. The group originally comprised Tupac and members of his close circle, including Yaki Kadafi, Hussein Fatal, E.D.I. Mean, Kastro, and Napoleon. They emerged from the intense and politically charged atmosphere of 1990s hip-hop, strongly influenced by Tupac’s revolutionary spirit and West Coast rap style. Hailing from New Jersey and New York, the Outlawz gained prominence through their collaboration with Tupac on his album “All Eyez on Me,” particularly on tracks like “Hit ‘Em Up” and “California Love.” They were known for their gritty lyrics, aggressive delivery, and unapologetic attitude, embodying the outlaw persona that Tupac championed. Tragically, Tupac’s death in 1996 deeply affected the group, but they continued to honor his legacy and release music. Over the years, they worked with various artists and released several albums, including “Still I Rise,” “Ride wit Us or Collide wit Us,” and “Novakane.” Their music often tackled themes of struggle, loyalty, and street life, resonating with fans of hardcore rap. Despite lineup changes and personal challenges, the Outlawz remained dedicated to their craft and their fallen leader’s vision. They’ve maintained a loyal fan base and continued to perform and record, ensuring that Tupac’s message and influence endure in the world of hip-hop. Through their music, the Outlawz cemented their place in rap history as fearless artists who fearlessly upheld the spirit of rebellion and authenticity.
