Biography

DJ COAKI is a talented DJ based in Fukuoka. After previously serving as owner and DJ at DIABLO, fleur, and gino, he gained extensive experience through numerous residencies at famous local clubs and bars. He has guest-starred at clubs and events across the country, livening up the floor with his reliable playing. He has previously opened for numerous international artists, including Ice Cube, Damiza, Roscoe, and Frost, on their Fukuoka Japan tours. His playing style is an open format centered on Hip Hop and R&B. He instantly reads the mood of the dance floor and manipulates a wide variety of genres with ease, using scratching, double-recording, and effects. For approximately five years from 2010, he released monthly mixes on Playground Ent, one of Japan’s largest mix labels, selling a total of 60 mixes and approximately 60,000 copies. In 2018, he participated in DJ Oggy’s APT Underlounge (Los Angeles). Through this connection, he has released tracks such as “Havana Remix” on the long-established New York label AV8 Records. His original singles are also available on iTunes and Spotify, and self-remixes of those singles have also been released by AV8 Records. Having gained residencies overseas, he continues to evolve as a presence that connects global sensibilities with the local scene.
