Erykah Badu and H.E.R. Bring R&B Generations Together at RNB X Live

Erykah Badu and H.E.R. at RNB X Live Dallas 2026, celebrating generations of R&B

Spotify’s first standalone R&B festival brought established stars and emerging voices to the Dallas area, highlighting how digital music discovery can grow into a live cultural experience.

R&B took center stage in Texas on November 1, 2026, as Erykah Badu and H.E.R. joined a new generation of artists for RNB X Live. Organized by Spotify in partnership with Live Nation Urban, the one-day festival took place at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, near Dallas.

The event brought Spotify’s RNB X playlist into a live setting, connecting artists from different generations of contemporary R&B. Alongside the two headliners, the lineup featured DESTIN CONRAD, kwn, Jai’Len Josey and Dallas artist rjtheweirdo.

For Erykah Badu, the festival marked a performance in her home region. The Dallas-born artist has played a defining role in the development of neo-soul, helping shape a sound that connects R&B, soul and hip-hop influences.

Her performance included “On & On,” a signature recording that remains closely associated with her musical legacy. Producer The Alchemist also made a guest appearance during her set.

H.E.R., meanwhile, returned to the stage with a performance that combined familiar material and previously unheard music. Alongside “Could’ve Been,” she introduced two unreleased songs, “Did You Miss Me” and “Friends.”

Together, the two artists represented different generations of R&B, demonstrating how the genre continues to evolve while maintaining connections to its musical foundations.

RNB X Live was not built around established names alone.

British R&B artist kwn, DESTIN CONRAD and Jai’Len Josey brought newer sounds to the festival, while Dallas native rjtheweirdo opened the event.

DESTIN CONRAD also joined kwn onstage for their collaborations “all fours” and “DADAMAN.” During H.E.R.’s performance, Miles Caton made a surprise appearance.

The combination of established performers, rising artists and collaborative moments gave the event a broader musical identity than a conventional two-headliner concert.

It also reflected the continuing importance of live performances in introducing audiences to artists they may previously have encountered only through streaming platforms.

The wider significance of RNB X Live lies in the connection between digital music discovery and physical music communities.

Spotify’s RNB X playlist has developed into a recognizable destination for contemporary R&B listeners. With the Dallas festival, that editorial identity became a live event bringing artists and audiences together in one location.

The festival was Spotify’s first standalone R&B event, but it was not the beginning of the RNB X live concept. Earlier editions included RNB X After Hours in Washington, D.C., and RNB X Live: The UK Sound events in New York and San Francisco.

Dallas represented a further step in that development, expanding the format into a dedicated festival.

Selected performances from the event were also recorded for exclusive release on Spotify, extending the experience beyond the audience attending in person.

Why RNB X Live Matters for R&B Culture

The event illustrates an important development in contemporary R&B: digital discovery and live performance are increasingly connected.

Streaming playlists can introduce listeners to emerging voices, but concerts and festivals create opportunities for those artists to share stages, develop audiences and become part of wider musical communities.

By bringing Erykah Badu and H.E.R. together with artists such as kwn and DESTIN CONRAD, RNB X Live presented R&B as a genre with both a substantial cultural history and an active new generation.

For DJ-League, whose international network connects DJs, artists and radio stations around R&B and related urban music cultures, this relationship between discovery, live performance and community is particularly relevant.

The Dallas event offers a clear example of how established artists, emerging talent and music platforms can contribute to the continued visibility of R&B culture.
