Carl Thomas vs. Case VERZUZ 2026

Classic R&B takes center stage on October 22, 2026, as Carl Thomas and Case meet for the latest VERZUZ event. The two singers will bring their respective catalogs into a song-for-song showcase celebrating R&B from the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The event is scheduled to begin at 6 PM Pacific Time / 9 PM Eastern Time and will stream live on Apple Music. A replay is expected to be available on demand after the show.

Two Distinct Voices of Classic R&B

Carl Thomas became widely recognized through his work with Bad Boy Records. His 2000 debut album Emotionalintroduced songs that remain closely associated with his career, including “I Wish,” “Summer Rain” and the title track.

Case established his own place in R&B with a catalog that includes “Touch Me, Tease Me,” “Happily Ever After” and “Missing You.” His collaboration with Joe on “Faded Pictures” also remains a recognizable part of his musical history.

Although their catalogs have different musical characteristics, both singers contributed to an era in which expressive vocals, memorable melodies and personal storytelling were central to mainstream R&B.

VERZUZ Continues Its R&B Focus

The matchup follows the August 2026 VERZUZ event featuring Joe and Donell Jones.

Originally launched in 2020 by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, VERZUZ developed around the idea of placing established artists and their musical catalogs in direct conversation.

Its format allows audiences to revisit familiar records while examining how different performers contributed to the musical identity of their generation.

For Carl Thomas and Case, this means bringing together songs associated with the romantic ballads, emotional storytelling and smooth production of classic R&B.

Why the Matchup Matters for R&B Culture

Beyond the competition format, the event provides another opportunity to revisit music that continues to influence R&B listening and DJ programming.

For DJs specializing in classic R&B and Oldschool selections, the two catalogs represent material that can connect different audiences and generations.

The matchup also demonstrates how established catalogs can remain culturally relevant without requiring a new release.

How to Watch Carl Thomas vs. Case

The event takes place on Thursday, October 22, at 6 PM Pacific Time. Viewers in Central Europe can follow the livestream from 3 AM CEST on Friday, October 23.

Apple Music is providing the live stream and has also published a dedicated VERZUZ Cheat Sheet playlist featuring music from both artists.

The matchup offers R&B listeners another occasion to revisit two distinctive catalogs and their contribution to the genre’s history.
