Public Enemy co-founder Chuck D will join the 4th Annual Hip Hop Cultural Summit at the Delaware Art Museum on October 17, 2026, as the event brings DJing, graffiti, breaking and HipHop activism together in Wilmington.
The free, all-ages gathering, titled Art as Activism, will explore how HipHop connects artistic expression with community involvement and social change. Presented in partnership with AllHipHop and Guerrilla Republik, the summit combines conversations with influential cultural figures and live demonstrations of HipHop‘s creative foundations.
Chuck D Takes Part in a Hip-Hop Culture Conversation
Chuck D, the influential voice and co-founder of Public Enemy, is scheduled to participate in a fireside chat with AllHipHop co-founder Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur.
The conversation is planned for 3:50 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. local time in the museum’s auditorium.
His appearance gives the summit a prominent connection to the history of socially conscious HipHop. Public Enemy helped establish political and social commentary as a defining part of the genre’s mainstream identity, making Chuck D a particularly relevant guest for an event focused on art and activism.
DJ Culture Remains at the Center
The summit’s program goes beyond artist conversations and places the original elements of HipHop in the spotlight.
DJ Supreme will present The Art of Turntablist, a session dedicated to the creative craft of DJ performance. DJ Supreme and DJ SoulBuck are also scheduled to provide live DJ sets throughout the day.
The program additionally includes a Culture Restoration Project MC Battle hosted by Champtown, with beats supplied by producer Hezekiah.
Dance culture will be represented by Ladies of Hip Hop during a special Live! Music Brunch hosted by radio personality Roxy Romeo.
Together, these activities highlight the relationship between DJs, MCs, dancers and the communities that helped develop HipHop into a worldwide culture.
Graffiti, History and Community Action
Another featured guest is Darryl “Cornbread” McCray, a Philadelphia graffiti pioneer who will participate in a discussion about art and activism.
The museum’s accompanying Walls of Resistance: Art as Activism exhibition presents his work alongside that of 17 graffiti artists.
The summit also includes a Superheroes for Peace awards ceremony in connection with Peace Week Delaware, recognizing individuals whose activities contribute positively to their communities.
By bringing these different forms of expression into a museum setting, the event presents HipHop not simply as a music genre but as a cultural movement with a continuing social and artistic presence.
