Snoop Dogg to Host the 2026 MTV VMAs Live From Los Angeles

Snoop Dogg is set to take center stage at one of music television’s biggest annual events. CBS and MTV have officially confirmed that the HipHop icon will host the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, broadcasting live from Los Angeles on Sunday, September 27. The show also marks the VMAs’ return to the West Coast for the first time since 2017. 

Snoop Dogg Takes the Lead at the VMAs

The hosting role adds another chapter to Snoop Dogg’s long relationship with the MTV Video Music Awards.

Across his career, Snoop has received 13 VMA nominations and three awards. His history with the event stretches back more than three decades and includes appearances alongside artists such as Dr. Dre and Eminem as well as a tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. 

This time, however, his role extends beyond a performance or appearance. As host, Snoop Dogg will lead the entire broadcast and become one of the central figures of the 2026 ceremony.

HipHop Meets Los Angeles

The location gives the announcement additional relevance for HipHop culture. Los Angeles has played a major role in the development of West Coast HipHop and remains an important international center for artists, DJs, producers and the wider music industry.

That connection is also visible inside the DJ-League network. The DJ-League Los Angeles community currently connects seven public DJ profiles and forms part of the wider California and North America network. 

With Snoop Dogg hosting and the VMAs returning to Los Angeles, the 2026 ceremony brings an established West Coast HipHop figure directly into one of global music television’s most visible roles.

The 2026 MTV VMAs air live on September 27 on CBS, with an MTV simulcast and Paramount+ streaming in the United States. International availability follows through MTV and Paramount+.
